Reviewer Top Pick!–NOR–SAVAGE HUNGER!

July 8, 2012 at 10:15 am (General) (, , , , , , , , )

Having a new cover is so exciting! Finishing the manuscript! Writing a new one! Editing the manuscript! The final, final read through! But the best is when readers can get their hands on the book. Then the real worry begins! Will readers like it??? Love it????

This is a preview of a review coming in Sept. It’s my first for SAVAGE HUNGER, and I was thrilled!

Night Owl Romance, first review preview!!! Coming Sept 24, 2012

SAVAGE HUNGER
by Terry Spear

Reviewer: Debra Taylor

Score: 5.00 / 5 – Reviewer Top Pick

This is an awesome new series from Terry Spear and a sizzling page turner. Terry Spear is wickedly talented when it comes to characterization. Her characters seem to take on a life of their own…. seeming to step right off the page. Or rather, to jump right out of my Kindle! LOL!!!

As with the wolves in her awesome “Heart of the Wolf” series, the Jaguar shifters take on the actual characteristics of the predators in the wild. Her vivid descriptions of the Amazon jungle pulled me right into the scene along with the characters. The chemistry between Connor & Kat was explosive and you get very sensual love scenes. I was hooked from the opening paragraph. The story kept me riveted throughout the entire book. This book is fast paced with nonstop action. Plus you get snappy & realistic dialogue between the three muskateers (Connor,Kat & Maya).

I am looking forward to reading about the extremely spunky Mayas’ search for her very own Jaguar mate. I recommend this book to any fan of the shifter genre. I enjoyed every minute of this story.

~~~~~
I hope you all love it, too! Right now, I’m off to work on Maya and the twins because she deserves to have fun also!!
Hope your Saturday is great! I overdid it in the heat yesterday and it wasn’t with any of these jaguar hunks either!
It’s amazing how he really blends into the ground, except for the eyes!
 Time for some kitty cat loving!
And this is what one female jaguar shifters wears under their clothes!
 Have a super wonderful Saturday!
Sold! A SEAL Wolf Christmas!
May 12, 2012 at 4:48 am (General) (, , , , , , )
Not sure about the title, but Sourcebooks bought A SEAL Wolf Christmas!
It all began with To Tempt the Wolf and Hunter and his wolf pack!
You know how that began. Tessa finds a naked man on her beach. Hey, he’s a SEAL…wolf. What can you expect?  Snowstorm coming. What’s a woman to do???
Then there’s A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing.
And a return to Hunter’s pack, only this time with one of his SEAL team members, back at the Oregon coast, Finn Emerson intending to protect Hunter’s sister Meara.
Meara catches him before he covers himself with a towel, pretending to be her lover while she’s intending to find a mate. And it’s NOT going to be him. He’s such a devil of a wolfish SEAL hunk.
And now?
I got word last night, talk about TGIF!!! Anna and Bjornolf get their turn!
A SEAL Wolf Christmas (title probably to change)
Navy SEAL Bjornolf Jorgenson and undercover operative Anna Johnson have a rocky beginning at their first meeting all to do with pantyhose and tying her to a bed after some heavy-duty sparring, and him declaring she has mighty fine killer knees. Christmas is coming but thoughts of sugar plum fairies and kissing under the mistletoe isn’t something these two gray werewolves have in mind when they’re tasked to be the newlyweds preparing for Christmas while investigating a SEAL’s murder at a Christmas Tree farm.
Neither care about Christmas, sharing gifts, and all the traditions that go along with the season since neither enjoyed the holiday while growing up. But as they battle each other as to what makes for the perfect newly married couple’s first Christmas, they learn that a little Christmas cheer can become so much more, especially if they can take down a SEAL’s killer before they become his next target.
So get ready for more of Bjornolf. Yum. 🙂  And Anna and her give no quarter attitude!
Today, I’m also signing books at West Waco Library in Waco, Texas, conference room, from 1:30-4.
I’ll be giving out book marks also.
And I’m at Discover New Love http://www.discoveranewlove.com/store/heart-of-the-highland-wolf.html all month long!
Have a super great Saturday!!!
YA Dragon Shifters
June 19, 2011 at 6:13 am (Deborah Cooke) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )
Finally stopped back here for a visit – it’s been a crazy spring. Here’s a big wave to everyone!
My paranormal YA series, THE DRAGON DIARIES launched this month. This series is a spin-off of my Dragonfire series, featuring dragon shape shifters. FLYING BLIND is the first book in a trilogy, featuring the coming of age of Zoë. She’s the only dragon shapeshifter and so she should be the Wyvern and have special powers. The problem is that her powers are AWOL and she has no idea how to develop them. In book one, her first shift is triggered so she gets sent to dragon shifter boot camp with the other dragon shifters – where the young dragons discover that it’s up to them to save their kind from a new threat. Book #2, WINGING IT, will be out in December, followed by book #3, BLAZING THE TRAIL, next June.
You can read more about The Dragon Diaries on my website for it, right here. I’m also in the midst of a blog tour this month, so there are reviews, and guest posts and copies of the book to be won – read more here.
In Dragonfire, DARKFIRE KISS was released in May. That’s the story of Rafferty’s firestorm, and it had awesome reviews – you can read about the book right here. There are two more Dragonfire titles scheduled: FLASHFIRE in January 2012 and Dragonfire #8 in October 2012 (no title on that one yet.)
Lots of dragons in my office this year!
In other news, I’ve been republishing some of my Claire Delacroix backlist digitally this year. All of these books are available for Kindle for $2.99, and at Smashwords – they are perking their way to other distributors like Apple, Sony, KOBO and Barnes & Noble.
The Rogues of Ravensmuir is a medieval trilogy, each book featuring a hero with something to hide. These are a bit Gothic, and I’m glad to see them available again – especially with wonderful new covers. They are THE ROGUE, THE SCOUNDREL and THE WARRIOR. You can see the covers and read excerpts here, plus connect to buy links.
Three of my time travels are also available again. LOVE POTION #9, THE MOONSTONE and ONCE UPON A KISS were originally published under my pseudonym Claire Cross and have been unavailable for a long time. It’s exciting to have new covers on them, too. You can read about them right here.
And last but not least, the only wolf shifter book I’ve ever written was a medieval published by Harlequin Historicals called ENCHANTED. I’ve just learned that they’re going to re-release that book digitally in July. This book features a hero cursed to be a wolf half of the time, a fairy tale feel, and a heroine who just doesn’t take no for an answer – especially when her HEA is at stake. I love this book and am quite excited about this. There’s a bit more about it here on my site, but you’ll have to scroll way down.
Edited to add – Actually, Harlequin is going to republish that entire trilogy. Links and stuff on my blog, right here.
Phew! That’s all my news!
Pets in Stories?
April 1, 2011 at 7:36 am (General) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )
Have you ever read a story where a pet takes over a story? Or really adds to the story? Makes the characters more … human?
Who would have ever thought wolves would have pets?
But there are numerous cases where predator and prey live happily together. 🙂
These big sleepy canines are Irish Wolfhounds and they actually killed wolves, not the other way around. But in Heart of the Highland Wolf, they’re the MacNeill clan’s pets. Why?
Those who had more money could afford to have hunting dogs in days of old. In this case, the Irish used wolfhounds to unseat English knights from their horses.
Since the MacNeills started out in Ireland, that was the reason for their having the wolfhounds. But through the ages, they’ve always been the best of companions.
It’s already April 1st, no fooling, and June is just around the corner! Get ready for hunky Highland wolves!!! 🙂
Hope you have a delightful TGIF. I’m going to try and get some new tires on my car today before I have none on the highway…and have lunch with an author friend. But for now? It’s time to get back to big jungle cats!
So what kind of pet would a jaguar cat have???
My wolves are eying a cat (big cat) who’s not in the picture. But you can see with their narrowed eyes, they aren’t really happy.
Such is the case with some canines and felines. Which in the wild can be understandable. They’re both predators and as such, both hunt for much the same food. And they’re territorial also.
But the difference is that wolves live in packs, most cats don’t. Big cats, that is. Except for lions and their pride. But that’s a bit skewed because the male has a harem. Not at all fair to all the damsels to my way of thinking.
So the cat shifter will have to make some adjustments if he’s to find a mate and live happily ever after. He can’t be all cat.
My cats and dogs loved each other. But big cats? As in shifters? They know werewolves don’t exist. And werewolves? No way is there any such thing as a jaguar shifter.
So what would happen if the two should meet? Trouble.
Because they’re territorial. The same as when a wolf strays into another pack’s territory.
There’s bound to be trouble.
And that’s how it all begins. A bunch of wolf packs, and then…
A jaguar…
I Looked for Him…
June 24, 2010 at 8:00 am (General) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )
These are my woods—the cornfields. I love them when they’re green like this. When they’re golden, I wish they were green again. 🙂 But I looked for him, hidden in the stalks, waiting.
All I could find was corn. The golden tassels glistened in the late night sun; the green leaves protecting the buttery yellow kernels from hungry predators–like me.
And sunflowers edging the corn-their sunny faces turned this way and that–a clinging beige grasshopper on one, a moth on the other–the signs of summer.
But he wasn’t there–or maybe, he was. Only he wouldn’t come out to play.
I went on a hike through a serene park then. He was there, I’m sure. Waiting for the dark to come, to show himself.
He wasn’t riding this bike though. He was running in his wolf form. Birds were singing throughout the woods, the sound of highway traffic drifted in the intermittent breeze. But without a wolf’s hearing, I couldn’t hear the river flowing down below. A sweet scent wafted in the air. I tried to conjure up what it could be.
It reminded me of the sweet scent of jasmine–the last two hold outs in my garden.
It didn’t matter. It perfumed the air and made the hike even better.
Except for Alaskan-sized mosquitoes–luckily only ran into them at two points on the trail, managed to escape one, not the other although she won’t be biting another soul–it was bugless.
But this is who I was looking for, up and down the trails. He wouldn’t come out to play though. Not when I had a pack of she-wolves with me. 🙂
Sigh. Next time, maybe I’ll catch him.
And he’ll come out to play.
The good part of walking through those woods last night was they made me forget about the hectic week. 🙂 Woods and wolves will do that.
And this is something else that is coming this summer!
How One Werewolf Sees a Setting
May 28, 2010 at 5:20 am (General) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )
In Dreaming of the Wolf, I wanted to write something about the wildflowers in Colorado, because Jake’s hobby is photographing them. So though I’ve researched the types of flowers that grow there, and was surprised to learn our own Indian paintbrush (that grows here in Texas) was growing there wild, I came across this picture at JS Nature photos.
From this picture, I was able to envision a scene. Or, Jake was. And often that’s how I create scenes–by actually seeing a picture and describing it. So if scenes often seem real, they are! 🙂
But putting a picture like this into words can be hard. No matter how I try to describe it….seeing it is just amazing! However, Jake’s take on it will be fun too. 🙂
And when we put the human spin on it, that makes it really special also. It’s not just a field of flowers–gorgeous flowers, but a human experience, based on that human’s background.
Everyone will see the field in a different way. A hunter might look at it as a place he might find his prey. A bird watcher would be wondering what kinds of birds might be nesting here. A flower enthusiast would be more interested in the flowers. A hiker might wonder where the trail would lead.
For me–it was how Jake would envision this field with his camera. You might be surprised. 🙂 Because as much of a wildflower purist as he is, he’s got other things on his mind–and she’s a brunette with a sense of humor to match his own.
Hope you all have a wonderful Friday!!! I’m so excited! I hope to get a lot written over the next 3 days and make the 1/3 mark on Dreaming of the Wolf!!!
So when you look at a picture like this…what do you see?
Run Fast, Run Happy
October 19, 2009 at 5:00 am (General) (, , , , , , , , , , , )
LoneWolf72web
First, I’d like to take a moment and introduce you to my new book cover!  Isn’t it pretty?  Lone Wolf is the sequel to The Moon: Tigress by the Tail and will be released in December with Tease Publishing!  I can’t wait.
Once the victim of scientific experimentation by the Government Control of Supernatural Activities (GSA), Damon doesn’t have a past, and he isn’t sure he has a future. He doesn’t even know if his ability to change from human to wolf is a virus, or magick. But the instant he lays eyes on the pretty cop from the local police force, he knows he has to learn the secrets of his past before they destroy her future.
Krystal is the best animal cop on the police force, hiding magickal talent beneath layers of excuses and quick thinking. For five years she’s tracked Peter Burke, a butcher who steals any form of canine to supplement his dietary needs. The day she saves a wolf from losing his head at the sharp end of an axe, her entire life changes.And then there is Damon, the mysterious, sexy ex-soldier with no memory of his past who awakens fantasies of dark and sensual nights.
But the GSA isn’t finished with Damon, and when the shadowy government agency joins forces with Burke, Krystal too finds her life in jeopardy, the target of men and women led by their own desires. Damon and Krystal must work together to stop evil and destroy years of illegal research.
Ok, please watch this video before you go further down on this post, otherwise you’ll never come back to it. 🙂 Lisa will understand.
Next, I’d like to share my awesome news with a friend. Her name is Lisa Kristof. For the last couple of years, we have talked about the lighter side of life.  Okay, the darker side of romance novels, but thepinkribbon lighter side of life.  One thing our shifters never have to deal with is cancer. That’s not necessarily true about their human mates.
When I wrote Tigress by the Tail, our hero’s mother was dead.  She died of Cancer.  I never specified what kind of cancer, and for the rest of that story, you’ll have to read the books.  I remember one of my reviewers said how sad it was even in our fantasy worlds, the C word manages to break in and cause just as much pain there as it does in real life.  But there are reasons I chose cancer for Lance’s mother.
I met Lisa online. She was originally from New Zealand, living in Texas. She was an avid animal lover who worked for many years in canine rescue, specializing in the hard to place rottweilers. Several dogs found wonderful, loving homes because of Lisa.
Lisa was one of those rare people who developed cancer at age 32, long before the age 40 when our doctors start to at least watch for it.  So early in fact, her doctors insisted she did not have cancer, that the pain in her arm was not related to the lump in her breast.  She had to return to New Zealand for a family visit and see a doctor there in order to force the mammogram, where she was diagnosed with cancer, MONTHS after the physical symptoms. Lisa left us on May 6, 2008, after 7 years of fighting this horrible disease. She left with a strength of character that most of us can only write about in our books. She left a legacy of honor, strength, love and purity. Lisa, you shall always be missed.
October is breast cancer awareness month and I thought I’d share a video taken of Lis just before her death in 2008.  Her message:  Run Fast, Run Happy.  My message:  Don’t let youth stop you – if you find out you have a lump, please push your doctors for a more specific diagnosis. Don’t let what happened to Lisa happen to another.
