Opposites attract

I love the opposites attract premise.  In paranormal romances there is a vast assortment of heroes and heroines to pick from.  Vampires pairing with werewolves.  Witches seducing demons.  Faeries attracting dragon-shifters.  Depending on which writer’s world you’re reading in, these examples either will be opposites, or not.  I happen to have created a world where vampires are enemies of witches.  Another author may have made them allies.  That’s one of the fun things about paranormal romance…anything goes.

One of my recent pairings of opposites is werewolves and vampires.  Werewolves hate the vampires because the vampires hunted them and killed their breed.  Vampires hate the wolves because they enslave them and force them to vicious fighting.  Of course, a werewolf would never allow a vampire to bite it.  The stigma would ruin them.  To wear a vampire’s bite?  Unthinkable.  What a delicious pairing then, to bring together a vampire hero and a werewolf heroine.  I’m having fun with it, as writing opposites always is.

I want to hear about some of the great opposite pairings you’ve read about.  And why did they work for you?

One that worked, but was a bit stretched was a loner wolf and a pride craving lioness. Don’t remember what author was many years ago.

Actually that sounds like a fascinating pairing, the loner wolf and social lioness.

Ohmigosh, Michele, if the two of those dogs mix it up…ouch! 🙂 hehehe…
